Welcome to this eLearning course on Safeguarding Adults
This course takes you on a complete safeguarding journey — moving from lived experiences and reflection, through knowledge-building and application, to personal commitment and action. It is designed not just to inform, but to inspire confidence, compassion, and professional responsibility.
Module 1: Experiencing and Reflecting on Safeguarding
You’ll step into the reality of safeguarding through powerful case studies and real-world scenarios. From Bill’s story to high-profile case reviews, you’ll see the impact of abuse when it is not recognised or acted upon. Structured reflection prompts help you process what you’ve seen and connect emotionally as well as professionally with why safeguarding matters.
Module 2: Building Understanding
You’ll then move from lived experience into the frameworks that underpin safeguarding practice. We’ll explore the key definitions, the six safeguarding principles, and the different types of abuse. You’ll also look at the factors that make people vulnerable and the legislation that protects adults. This module helps you connect what you’ve experienced to the bigger picture, building the knowledge and confidence to recognise safeguarding concerns in context.
Module 3: Applying Safeguarding in Practice
With the foundations in place, you’ll learn how to apply safeguarding in real situations. You’ll discover what to do if you suspect abuse, how to respond to disclosures, and how to follow reporting procedures effectively. You’ll also explore person-centred safeguarding, restrictive practices, and online safety, applying safeguarding principles to a range of workplace scenarios. By the end, you’ll feel confident not just in recognising abuse but in taking appropriate action.
Final Quiz
At the end of the course, you’ll complete a short quiz to check your understanding of Adult Safeguarding. This is your chance to consolidate what you’ve learned and make sure you feel confident applying it in practice.
To successfully complete the course and receive your certificate, you’ll need to achieve a score of at least 80%. Don’t worry — the quiz is designed to reinforce your learning, not to catch you out.
Remember, you can revisit any part of the course and use your workbook for support before taking the quiz.
